‘The Incomer’: Louis Paxton On Developing His Modern Folk Fairy Tale [THS Interview]

This weekend is the release of the Sundance award-winning comedy feature film, “The Incomer”, written and directed by Louis Paxton. The film is a modern folk fairy tale about two siblings living on a remote island, surviving by eating local birds, all while also warding off any incomers. But things get weird when an awkward council worker shows up representing the government.

Sumerian Pictures‘ “The Incomer” is in theaters September 25th.

Learning How To Create A Modern Folk Fairy Tale

With the release of “The Incomer” I spoke with Paxton about his film. In our conversation we talk about his inspiration for this story and how he was able to blend genres to create a compelling story about the needs of a person. He also shares with us what made stars Gayle Rankin and Grant O’Rourke the right pair to play the siblings. As well as Domhnall Gleeson’s awkward character being able to connect with both siblings.
