It’s a wild couple of hours as numerous high-profile projects at Marvel and DC have come under scrutiny. Booster Gold will not be moving forward according to writer David Jenkins. The DC series had recently been in the news as a hopeful addition to the overall slate for the company. Now, it’s not happening. We dive-in to all the details right here on THS.

Booster Gold Not Moving Forward

On social media, David Jenkins told fans that Booster Gold isn’t moving forward. Replying to @idontbeatgames, the scribe published his announcement above news of Mahershala Ali’s statement about Blade being shelved. It’s been a weird day in the world of comic book heroes, and we’re not even to the finish line yet.

The Booster Gold series was attracting some fan hype after word of the script being in a good place surfaced a few weeks ago. That now feels like an eternity has passed. That’s the way entertainment works at the moment. And, maybe it always has.

Jenkins typed, “My Booster Gold won’t be moving forward. Can’t improve on Mahershala’s lovely statement. So, I’ll just apply it here as well.”

Wait, So Blade Isn’t Happening Either?

In what might end up being the second most talked about story from today, Mahershala Ali confirmed that the long gestating blade movie over at Marvel Studios is basically done. In a new interview with GQ he was asked about the project and offered a startlingly frank estimation of the process of trying to get this movie over the finish line.

‘For whatever reason, that project is not for me. If they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it. So I have to move on, and I have moved on. Again, you had me under contract, they have billions of dollars, if they wanted to do the movie, we would’ve done the movie.

I feel ready to move on from the ‘Blade’ questions. Those questions are for them. They didn’t want to do it, so they should answer that question.’

Peacemaker Season 2, which carries John Cena from the previous era of the DC Universe to the current iteration was also there. But, Booster Gold carried some intrigue because of the character’s popularity in comics circles. (And an absolutely delightful episode of Justice League Unlimited in animation.)

A lot of those projects have made it to the dance. Superman was a critical and general audience darling. Supergirl is a bit more mixed among the community, although finding an audience on streaming.
