Brendan Fraser’s ‘The Mummy 4’ Gets Official Title

Intriguing news for fans of The Mummy franchise. The upcoming fourth film in the series just announced its official title.

Universal Studios revealed today the movie’s full title is The Mummy: Book of the Dead. The announcement comes exactly one year ahead of the film’s planned release date of October 15, 2027.

In the original 1999 feature, Rick (Brendan Fraser) and Evie (Rachel Weisz) discover the Book of the Dead at Hamunaptra. Reading from this book ultimately raises the mummy Imhotep from the dead, beginning his reign of terror. In the sequel film The Mummy Returns, the Book of the Dead once again brings Imhotep back to life.

And based on this new title for the fourth film, it seems like no one learned their lesson about reading from this particular book.

What We Know About The Mummy: Book of the Dead

The Mummy: Book of the Dead marks the fourth entry into this particular iteration of the classic monster franchise from Universal. When it releases in 2027, it will have been nearly two decades since the previous film in the series, Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, which premiered back in 2008.

Radio Silence duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett direct the film. Their previous work includes the Ready or Not films and 2022’s iteration of Scream. The script comes from David Coggeshall (The Family Plan).

Your favorite stars from the franchise will return and reprise their roles, including Brendan Fraser (Rick O’Connell), Rachel Weisz (Evie O’Connell), John Hannah (Jonathan Carnahan), and Oded Fehr (Ardeth Bay).
