Check Out the Official Poster and Trailer For ‘Finding Emily’ Starring Angourie Rice

Angourie RIce in Finding Emily.

Focus Features’s Finding Emily asks one of the most soul-bearing questions for the young and in love in its trailer: “What if I misread this whole situation?” Its answer is, of course, the most simple: “You’re going to find someone who gets you.”

The trailer for the teen rom-com perfectly captures how encompassing love feels when you’re young. It has the frenetic energy that made many 2000s rom-coms what they are, made perfect by a wonderfully-cast pair of leads. Spike Fearn is Owen, and Angourie Rice is Emily Raine. Owen, after being given the wrong number for his dream girl–a mysterious Emily he met at a party–teams up with Raine, a psychology student, to find her. There is a catch: Raine is actually trying to prove that love causes madness as part of her PhD. A cynic, she does not hold any of Owen’s beliefs about the nature of love.

However, that doesn’t stop the two from heading into this journey together. Along the way they spark a hilarious campus-wide frenzy that tests their own hearts and ambitions.

Finding Emily is directed by Alicia MacDonald, and Rachel Hirons penned the screenplay. This marks MacDonald’s directorial debut movie. It’s produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Olivier Kaempfer.
