First Look At The Epic Adaptation

Paramount is excited to bring one of the most talked about books in recent years to the big screen. In the new first look images, fans get their 1st idea of this sprawling epic. Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Cynthia Erivo and more star in this film.

Paramount Pictures welcomes fans into Orisha. Children of Blood And Bone just dropped some gorgeous first look images. Gina Prince-Blythewood directs the big-screen adaptation of a modern classic. Tomi Adeyemi’s book has been a critical and cultural darling. Now, the story gets the movie treatment from a talented roster of actors.
Domain Entertainment and 2.0 Entertainment proudly display their hard work on this story. Children of Blood And Bone has has sky-high expectations on it for a while now. A Monumental Story
As we stated up above, adapting children of blood and bone is a pretty tall order. One that director Gina Prince-Blythewood shield away from it first period talking to Essence this week, the filmmaker explained how she was pulled aboard. Apparently, they asked her a number of times to approach this project.
“I spoke to her about my vision of how I wanted to approach it, of bringing all of us into this incredible fantasy world to allow all of us to see ourselves reflected beautifully and heroically,” she explained. “It was from that moment that we were completely aligned on vision.”
“This time when I read the book, I just felt so connected to this young hero’s struggle to find her purpose and so inspired by her courage and her resilience and her fight,” Prince-Blythewood added. “And I started to see the film and when that happens, I know I have to make it.”
“After The Old Guard and The Woman King, I knew how to make it. I think that was a big part of it as well,” the director continued. “This is a huge epic fantasy with a beautiful cultural specificity and it was a gift, and I am so grateful that I got to be the one to bring this incredible world to life.”
What Is The Movie About?
In the epic fantasy world of Orïsha, a young woman goes on a quest to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from her people. She and her brother ally with the daughter and son of the king to fight back against his brutal rule.
Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, CHILDREN OF BLOOD AND BONE features a stellar cast including Thuso Mbedu, Damson Idris, Amandla Stenberg, Tosin Cole, featuring Academy Award® nominee Cynthia Erivo, Lashana Lynch, Zackary Momoh, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Academy Award® nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor, Academy Award® winner Regina King, with Idris Elba and Academy Award® winner Viola Davis.
Who Is Producing The Film?
Executive Producers include Jeff Waxman, Jennifer Madeloff, Tomi Adeyemi, Reggie Rock Bythewood, Marty Bowen, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, Andrew Lary, Sophie Cassidy, and Zack Conroy.
Additional production comes from Wyck Godfrey, John Fischer, Isaac Klausner, Karen Rosenfelt and Matt Jackson. Tomi Adeyemi wrote the novel the film is based-on. Gina Prince-Blythewood wrote the screenplay alongside Adeyemi. She also directs!
