In Disney’s live-action reimagining of the beloved animated adventure, Moana (Catherine Lagaʻaia) answers the Ocean’s call and, for the first time, voyages beyond the reef of her island of Motunui with the infamous demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) on an unforgettable journey to restore prosperity to her people.
How good is the new film?
Our critic Stacey Yvonne reviewed the live-action Moana for That Hollywood Show. Here’s what she had about riding these gorgeous seas again in her piece.
And it was easy to enjoy. The landscape that’s not wholly CGI is beautiful and honestly some of the CGI is beautiful as well. The performances are definitely a highlight. While it’s hard to reach the heights of personality like Cravalho, Laga’aia certainly stepped up the plate ready to perform. There’s a determination that shines through her as Moana and it makes me interested to see what she’s in next.
