Paul Walker could potentially return to the Fast & Furious franchise, even more than a decade after his death. His brother Cody Walker says artificial intelligence could be used to bring the late actor’s Brian O’Conner back for the franchise’s upcoming finale.
There is a pretty big caveat, though. Cody made it clear that he personally has no interest in participating in the final movie. Instead, he said the decision should ultimately belong to Paul’s daughter, Meadow Walker, and suggested that the filmmakers have enough unused footage and modern technology to make a return possible.
Cody Walker Would Not Return
Cody knows firsthand what it takes to help bring Brian O’Conner back. He and his brother Caleb stood in for Paul during production on Furious 7 after Paul died in a 2013 car accident at just 40 years old.
Cody now says he would not want to do that again for the franchise’s 11th and final movie. His position is that Paul’s daughter should have the final say about whether Brian returns to the story.
That does not mean Cody is opposed to the idea altogether. He believes the technology now exists to potentially recreate Paul’s appearance without requiring him or Caleb to physically stand in for their brother.
Could AI Bring Brian O’Conner Back?
Cody pointed to the amount of unused footage from the Fast & Furious movies as one possible solution. He believes the filmmakers could use that material alongside AI to recreate Paul’s likeness for a new appearance.
It would not be completely unprecedented for the franchise. Furious 7 famously used visual effects and body doubles to complete Paul’s remaining scenes after his death, allowing Brian to receive an emotional farewell without killing the character.
Instead, the movie gave Brian a peaceful ending. He stepped away from the racing world to raise his children with Mia, played by Jordana Brewster. Cody specifically praised that decision because the franchise did not kill Brian off or give him a deliberately dramatic exit.
Vin Diesel Wants Brian Back
The possibility of Brian returning is not coming out of nowhere. Vin Diesel has previously teased a reunion between Dom and Brian as part of the franchise’s final chapter.
During an appearance at FuelFest in 2025, Diesel revealed that the studio wanted the Fast & Furious finale for April 2027. He said he agreed under three conditions: bringing the franchise back to Los Angeles, returning to its car culture and street racing roots, and reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner.
Diesel has never explained exactly how Brian would return. Now Cody Walker has offered one possible answer, although nothing he said confirms that the movie will actually use AI to recreate Paul.
Paul Walker’s Legacy
Whatever happens with the final Fast & Furious movie, Paul remains one of the most important figures in the franchise’s history. His friendship with Diesel became part of the series’ identity, both on screen and behind the scenes.
Diesel has also remained close with Meadow Walker since Paul’s death. She recently supported him at a Los Angeles screening celebrating the franchise’s 25th anniversary, where Diesel became emotional while remembering his longtime friend and onscreen brother.
Whether Brian O’Conner ultimately appears in the finale remains unknown. For now, Cody Walker’s comments make one thing clear: if Meadow Walker wants to see her father’s character return, the technology may exist to make it happen without asking Paul’s brothers to step into the role again.
