The Bat keeps on pushing.

Wrapping Up an Extended Stay in Gotham

Production on “The Batman Part II” is back up and running, according to star Robert Pattinson in an interview with Games Radar. The DC Studios film has been hit with numerous delays over the years and finally was nearing the finish line when an unexpected issue recently popped up. Director Matt Reeves had to step back from production due to a personal matter. Luckily, Steven Soderbergh offered to step in and help get this behemoth to completion.

According to DC, it was actually Soderbergh who approached Reeves and offered to help complete the movie with DC’s full blessing. Reeves has clarified on social media that he is “not leaving” the movie and will still be involved with post-production tasks alongside Soderbergh. Pattinson was full of praise for the “Ocean’s” director for taking time out of his schedule to help the team out.

“I am so happy he’s come on to help Matt. It’s incredibly generous of him and he’s doing it in the loveliest way. It’s completely selfless. I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we’re almost done,” Pattinson said in his interview. “So for someone to come in and say, ‘I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.’ And to have someone who’s as talented as Steven doing it is great.”

He also said that production has re-started and that he was actually going to be suiting back up in the next couple days. Before it was put on pause, filming had been underway London, with a far-off release date of Feb. 18, 2028.

Where is the Story Taking Us Next?

“The Batman Part II” will pick up where we left off in the aftermath of the massive flood that swept Gotham City in “The Batman,” as well as the events of HBO’s “The Penguin.” It apparently will be an even deeper dive into the corruption infesting the city, especially with Oz Cobb amassing a lot of power by the end of his series.

In addition to Pattinson as the titular Bat, the film is bringing back Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as Penguin. Plus, the new cast additions are unbelievably stacked with Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Brian Tyree Henry, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch all joining in the fun.
