Peter Berg is returning to the football field, but this time, the players are preparing to face something far more dangerous than an opposing team. Netflix has released the official teaser for The Mosquito Bowl, a World War II drama based on the remarkable true story chronicled by Friday Night Lights author Buzz Bissinger.
The film stars Nicholas Galitzine, Bill Skarsgård, Ray Nicholson, and Tom Francis as four of America’s most celebrated college football players who set aside athletic careers to enlist in the Marines following the attack on Pearl Harbor. As they prepare for the invasion of Okinawa, the men participate in a legendary game featuring some of the greatest players of their generation—for many, the final game they would ever play.
The film reunites the director with Bissinger’s work after Berg’s acclaimed adaptation of Friday Night Lights. The Mosquito Bowl opens in select theaters October 30 before premiering globally on Netflix November 25.
