Simone Ashley Stars In More Ways Than One
One cool detail about this film that is amazing to note, the score hides a massive surprise. Ashley’s voice actually forms the backbone of the sonic environment for This Tempting Madness. Composer Rebekka Karijord and sound designer Trevor Gates actually melded the actress’s voice with Julia Kent’s beautiful cello to bring out a soundscape that will keep you on your toes.
The director explained how the composer employed a custom design instrument to capture the star’s vocal tones period from there, different breaths and hums were stretched across the score to accentuate the internal journey that M.I.A. is on over the course of this film. When other sound intrudes into this more naturalistic soundscape, It throws the audience off kilter. Mirroring the experience of our protagonist in This Tempting Madness

Here’s a synopsis for the drama. “THIS TEMPTING MADNESS is inspired by a true story. After a near-fatal fall, Mia (Simone Ashley) awakens from a coma grievously injured, her memory fractured, and her husband Jake (Austin Stowell) missing. As fragments of her past resurface, love, guilt, and fear blur together until she can no longer tell what’s real. Haunted by doubt and desire, Mia’s search for the truth leads her to question not only her past—but herself.”
