Apple Original Films dropped the first trailer for “Mayday” starring Ryan Reynolds and Sir Kenneth Branagh. Its described as a genre-bending, action-packed buddy comedy. It follows a U.S. Navy pilot played by Reynolds that is stranded behind enemy lines. The film premieres globally on Apple TV on September 4, 2026.

The trailer it starts with an “Top Gun” inspired start. With Reynolds character, Troy Kelly, just barely escaping disaster after a fiery crash in mid-air. He then wakes up finding out an American-loving ex-KGB named Nikolai Ustinov, has saved his life despite having him tied up to a bed. After learning about Ustinov’s fandom, Kelly tries to get him to help with his escape back home. Little does he know about Ustinov’s deadly past that sets them off into a Cold War adventure.
