007 First Light looks like it’s all set to finally return James Bond to the world of video games. It’s about time too. The last James Bond game was 007 Legends, which released all the way back in 2012 to some pretty negative reviews. In fact, that 2012 game was so bad that Eon Productions and MGM revoked Activision’s license to make any James Bond game ever again. It wouldn’t be until 2021 when IO Interactive took up the mantle after releasing Hitman 3 to develop this first James Bond game in a very, very long time. And now, the wait to play this game is almost finally over.
IO Interactive is proud to unveil their launch trailer for 007 First Light, which also includes the release date. The end of that trailer reveals that date to be May 27, 2026. In fact, you can pre-purchase the game right now on PC (Steam or Epic), PlayStation, or Xbox. Pre-purchasing the game even comes with outfits for James Bond, a golden weapon and tool skins, and 24-hour early access. The Legacy Edition even comes with a physical golden gun figurine with stand and secret compartment for all you spy fans out there.
As for that launch trailer? Well, you can watch that either on YouTube, or just look below:
007 First Light All Set to Launch on May 27
Honestly, judging by that launch trailer alone, 007 First Light looks like it’s going to be a fantastic game. The gameplay looks very similar to the Uncharted games, looking like a mixture of third-person shooter and parkour action. And of course, there’s a host of cool spy vehicles to drive around, including a speedboat, vintage cars, and a really cool spy car with folding machine guns hidden in it. All in all, it looks like IO Interactive are looking to outdo Activision by a wide margin, and maybe even redeem James Bond’s name in the gaming world.
