Mike Flanagan Joins ‘Warhammer 40K’ Series At Amazon MGM Studios

Warhammer 40,000 is set in the far future, where humanity stands at the edge of what might be its brightest future, or its darkest age. The threats to humankind’s empire are many: traitors driven by the fires of ambition, alien empires sworn to reclaim the stars and the corruption of reality by malevolent gods.

Mike Flanagan has a deal with Amazon MGM Studios to develop and produce original series for the studio/streamer. His first with that deal is the upcoming adaptation of Carrie. He’s also working on The Exorcist: Martyrs for Universal right now as writer, director, and a producer. That film stars Scarlett Johansson, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Leguizamo, Diane Lane, Carla Cugino, and Laurence Fishburne.

Mike Flanagan has written, directed, edited, and produced eight movies including Doctor Sleep and Gerald’s Game, as well as Ouija: Origin of Evil, Hush, Before I Wake, Oculus, Absentia and 2024’s The Life of Chuck. His work in TV has seen him create, direct, and showrun shows like The Fall of the House of Usher, Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Bly Manor, The Midnight Club and The Haunting of Hill House.

This Confirms That The Series Is Still On

There were fears among people online that because we didn’t have a ton of updates on the series for a while that it was canceled. This news confirms that the series is very much still in active development. Henry Cavill is still involved with the series as well. He’s a gigantic fan of the property and this series should go a long way to giving 40K fans something to be proud of.

Warhammer 40K has seen a surge in popularity in recent years thanks to video games like Warhammer: Space Marine 2 and its collab with the Total War series. They also had a high-profile collab with Magic: the Gathering as well that brought plenty of new players.
