Some of our oldest viewers will recall an animated TV special called It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. In fact, you might not even be all that old to remember this. Ever since this special made its debut all the way back in October 27, 1966; it has become an annual event for this special to screen on TV every October. In fact, I remember the commercials for it myself in my own childhood in the 1990s: 30 years after the special’s initial TV debut. Part of the reason why that special is so successful is because of the music. That piano and jazz-like beats of the soundtrack helps keep memories of the Great Pumpkin alive in our hearts. In fact, it’s how great that music is that’s why we’re getting this story today.
Craft Recordings is proud to announce the impending launch of a vinyl record soundtrack for It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. This vinyl record will feature the jazz score by Vince Guaraldi from the special, including favorites like “The Great Pumpkin Waltz,” “Graveyard Theme,” and the iconic “Linus and Lucy” that we hear from all the commercials about it. This isn’t the first vinyl release for the soundtrack either. The first one was back in 2018, with 2022 seeing another release with the discovery of the soundtrack’s master tapes. This current re-release of the vinyl for the special’s 60th anniversary has a collection of “rare outtakes” as a treat for us. Not only that, but that vinyl will come pressed on a 45 RPM zoetrope LP, which you can see below:

This vinyl release of the soundtrack for It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown will arrive on August 7, 2026. However, you can preorder it right now from various online retailers, including directly from Craft Recordings, here.
Not only that, but you can also get exclusive pumpkin-shaped pressings from various retailers. The selection includes the Orange 4-inch Tiny Vinyl (Target), Electric Pumpkin Patch (Barnes & Noble), Pumpkin Spice (Walmart), Ghost White (Target), and Candy Corn (Craft Recordings) exclusively from those retailers. However, the classic Orange Pumpkin pressing will be available at all major retailers “by popular demand”.
It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Getting Vinyl Soundtrack Release for 60th Birthday
For everyone who enjoyed/enjoys that old 1966 special, this vinyl release will be a treat. Assuming that you have a record player, of course. Fortunately, most audiophiles will likely have one already, meaning that you will be able to enjoy the soundtrack of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown in the most high quality sound available. Without that bit of degradation in audio quality that digital soundtracks have, of course.
Heck, even without a record player, this vinyl release could be a good collectible for fans of It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown. Especially with that iconic pumpkin-shaped pressing, which could be a great touch for this year’s upcoming Halloween. You can just purchase the vinyl first, and then save up for a record player at a later date.
