An Insider’s Look Into The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art

We’re now (excitedly!) ess than a month away from the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art opening in Los Angeles! Fans are no doubt excited to see what aspects of George Lucas’ storied carrier the museum will feature…. But if you’re expecting all Star Wars and Indiana Jones, be prepared for so much more. Last month, we gave you a inkling of what you’ll find (you can read about it HERE). At Comic-Con International (SDCC 2026), we had the opportunity to sit down with the museum’s chief curator, Ryan Linkoff, for even more in-depth insight.

“George Lucas has been collecting narrative art, specifically, for fifty years,” Linkoff told us. “This is something that is the culmination of many years of planning and thinking on his part.” Linkoff, for his part, joined the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art eight years ago and almost immediately began curating the exhibits. The definition of Narrative Art is a expansive one, from cave paintings to contemporary comics, and the collection will showcase it all.

Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is for everyone

Despite such a vast wealth of visual storytelling to present, the museum has “no specific  objective” regarding what patrons should take away from their visit. “Art is an individual experience; art is something you have an emotional connection to…. If people come through this experience and acknowledge and recognize that images and art are all around us, and images play a role in structuring our lives and telling us stories,” well, that’s the core goal for the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art.

Thankfully we don’t have to wait much longer to experience what the museum has to offer. The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art officially opens September 22.
