A hit right from the start, “Carrie” gets another season.
The ‘Carrie’ Hype Train is Real
Prime Video just announced that “Carrie” will be getting a second season, after a critically acclaimed debut season from showrunner and filmmaker Mike Flanagan. He will be returning as showrunner and executive producer, alongside “Carrie” author and returning executive producer Stephen King.
Starring Summer H. Howell as Carrie and Samantha Sloyan as her mother, Margaret, “Carrie” was like lightning in a bottle the second it dropped on the streaming channel on Oct. 7, 2026. It was no. 1 on Prime Video in more than 105 countries, according to Amazon. The first season has been largely reviewed positively with folks lauding the deep and introspective character work Flanagan brings to a project that has been seen a few different times.
“For 50 years, audiences have known and gravitated to Carrie White’s story. From the beginning, we imagined a story that goes far beyond the prom, and I’m incredibly grateful for Stephen’s trust and support in exploring what comes next,” Flanagan said.
Continuing the Story of Carietta White
Not spoiling anything here, but the end of the season 1 leaves a lot of room for exploration in the second season. The different narratives that were woven into Carrie’s descent into rage gave audiences a distinctly unique story, one that could only be told in an episodic medium.

“I can’t wait for audiences to get to see what’s down the road for Carrie White. Mike Flanagan and I are excited about what comes next. It’s bound to be thrilling,” King said.
A Quick Lowdown on Season 1
The first season followed a misfit high-schooler who is a genuine sweetheart and bookworm. After her dad’s sudden death pushes her out of isolation and into public high school with her overly protective mother Margaret, she endures a viral bullying scandal and relentless teenage cruelty while discovering the awakening of her mysterious telekinetic powers. All the while there’s cryptic forces in the shadows watching and lurking. Though most people may know the ending of the original story by now, the streaming series takes things in an unexpected direction.
The cast is rounded out by Siena Agudong (“Resident Evil”) as Sue Snell, Alison Thornton (“Fire Country”) as Chris Hargensen, Joel Oulette (“My Life with the Walter Boys”) as Tommy Ross, Josie Totah (“The Buccaneers”) as Tina, Arthur Conti (“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”) as Billy, Thalia Dudek (“The Running Man”) as Emaline, Amber Midthunder (“Prey”) as Miss Desjardin, Matthew Lillard (“Scream” franchise) as Principal Grayle.
All eight episodes of season one are available now on Prime Video.
