Monsters rise again?!
Apple TV could be bringing back one of its heavy-hitters sooner than we thought. A new piece discussed how Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is looking at a Season 3 renewal. There are new writers and a different showrunner getting in the mix too. Legendary Television really hit paydirt with Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Season 3 is something the fans want, and That Hollywood Show has the details about what’s going on over there at Apple TV!
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Eyes Season 3 Renewal
Don’t look now, but renewal talks are picking up for Monarch: Legacy of Monsters! Variety’s latest reporting indicates that the Apple TV favorite could be lumbering towards Season 3. The latest entry in this series is getting some new writers into the fold. And they’ve got big plans for the future!
The next installment of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters would also secure a new showrunner. Legacy is looking at featuring new Titans from Legendary’s Monsterverse as well! It remains unclear if the characters from the previous seasons would appear in the third entry. But, Variety’s sources indicate that the search for a showrunner is on.
Building a Legendary universe

Wyatt Russell’s spinoff series is still coming. So, fans of Colonel Lee Shaw can rest easy. That effort is seperate from whatever’s going on with Season 3. In addition, the framework of Russell’s spinoff dovetails nicely with this news. His show is set in 1984, allowing some creative distance.
Chris Black served as showrunner and executive producer for Season 2. He also created the series alongside Matt Faction. Monarach: Legacy of Monsters is a tightrope walk in some ways because Toho Co. Limited owns Godzilla as a character. That means, anything spinning off the big guy has to run through them.
What did we think of Season 2?
If you love the extensive world beyond just Godzilla, there’s a lot to like about Monarch: Legacy of Monsters! Season 2 delivered more loving worldbuilding around this frankly dangerous situation for all the humans involved.
That Hollywood Show’s Kevin Fenix reviewed Season 2 for the site. In his piece, he praised Russell and the creative team for capturing the scope of these larger-than-life characters. However, we never loose sight of the human toll and sacrifice that exists in a world like the one in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.
Fenix wrote, “Season 2 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters feels like the Monsterverse finally found its long-form superpower. The series takes the best parts of the films and binds them into something richer.”
“You get the human cost that makes the Godzilla stories sting. You get the lore and sci-fi that makes the world feel huge. You get character messiness that feels lived-in,” he added. “You still get spectacle that delivers scale and wow. It never becomes a thin excuse for kaiju chaos. It becomes the connective tissue that makes the chaos matter.”
