The shade was real, the reads were hilarious, and the Boulet Brothers were at the center of it all on Saturday, Oct. 10 at New York Comic Con 2026.

Classic Kills and Heightened Exterminations for Season 7

Coming in hot with black vinyl dresses, with shoulders touching the sky, looking like two gorgeous sleep paralysis demons (a compliment they’d love), Swanthula and Dracmorda Boulet—widely known as the Boulet Brothers—joined New York Comic Con for their first time. The pair, along with Shudder, are celebrating 10 years of “Dragula” in all its goriness at their first panel. After briefly shouting out “Absolute Wonder Woman,” the pair dove into the exciting parts of this new season and reflect back on their beginnings.

The Boulets talked about how they were going to possibly “top” season 6 and season 2 of “Titans,” “Dragula’s” all-star style season, which was a lot more polished for the brand. They basically said they didn’t even try to top it, they leaned harder the opposite direction of “polish” by including elements of analog horror with the filming for season 7 and escalating the exterminations (when a contestant falls in the bottom two and is at risk of being eliminated).

“There’s two things. One: the cast, as you will see during this panel, are insane. So we didn’t have to do a lot, because they shocked us without us having to do anything to them. But the exterminations this season are definitely the most extreme of any season. Knives getting thrown at people, you’ll see in the trailer. There’s a lot of axes, glass, there’s a lot going on,” Drac Boulet shared. “I think that the second inspiration for this season is we wanted to pay homage, a love letter to classic horror kills. So all of the death scenes are shot for shot, as best we could, recreation of classic kills.”

Instead of trying to top the polished perfection of “Titans,” the queens chose to return to the show’s gritty, raw roots for season 7. Drac Boulet described the new season as an alternate reality version of what the early seasons would look like with a modern budget, like an “alternate Earth.” This statement elicited “oohs” and “ahhhs” from the audience. Shifting the focus back to showcasing brand-new, unfiltered artists helps keep the show fresh.

There was also some shade thrown at “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and its impact on mainstreaming drag performers. Drac Boulet acknowledged that the show revolutionized drag by launching local performers onto international stages, but felt it started becoming too narrow a view of the art form. That’s why the Boulet Brothers are so focused on representing the soul drag, which to them means counterculture styles like punk, goth, and fetish drag.

Did the Footage Match the Hype?

The footage was everything the Boulets said and more. It featured numerous contestants screaming at each other, walking on broken glass, saying unhinged things to the camera, and generally acting a fool. Absolute cinema.

As mentioned above, this new crop of artists are extreme on their own without much encouragement from the production team. In fact, they got so wild that production had to step in and chill them out, which has never happened before in the history of the show.

“It’s the first time that we were like, you have to stop and that’s never happened before. We’ve never stopped, we’re like, let them go crazy and edit it. But this time the production crew were like, I can’t handle this. It’s too much. So you’ll see that develop on the show, too,” Drac Boulet said.

You really can’t beat a tease like that from the showrunners themselves.

Swan Boulet’s favorite line from the trailer might be ours too:

“I’m gonna keep it respectful, you bitch.”
