Curry Barker’s Follow-Up To ‘Obsession’, ‘Anything But Ghosts’, Is Set For May 2027

Curry Barker, the filmmaker behind the smash hit Obsession, has a date set for his next film, Anything But Ghosts. Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster announced today that the film will hit theaters on May 7th, 2027. Anything But Ghosts is written and directed by Barker and co-written by longtime creative collaborator Cooper Tomlinson. Anything But Ghosts stars Tomlinson and Barker as wannabe “ghosthunters” who find themselves in over their heads as things spiral wildly and terrifyingly out of control. Violet McGraw and Chris Reinacher also star with Bryce Dallas Howard and Aaron Paul.

Following the worldwide, record-breaking success of Obsession, Anything But Ghosts marks Barker’s return to the big screen with another bold, original theatrical event from one of filmmaking’s most exciting new voices. The film reunites Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, following their collaboration on Obsession, alongside producers Jason Blum (Blumhouse), Roy Lee and Steven Schneider (Spooky Pictures), Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath (Divide/Conquer), in association with Image Nation and That’s a Bad Idea. Executive producers are Daniel Bekerman, Curry Barker, Cooper Tomlinson, and Image Nation’s Ben Ross.

After making Obsession, Curry Barker was one of the most in-demand filmmakers, and it looks like Blumhouse-Atomic Monster have nabbed him for one of 2027’s most-anticipated films.

Talk about hits of the year. Not only is Obsession one of the highest-grossing horror movies ever now, but it’s also among the biggest of 2026. The Cinderella run at the box office didn’t come out of nowhere, though. The movie has resonated with audiences across the world. Curry Barker’s film, which feels like he turned the “be careful what you wish for” switch to 11, featured a star-making performance for Inde Navarette and Michael Johnston.

If you haven’t seen this movie yet, you owe it to yourself to experience it as a horror fan. It fits right in to the season with some dreamy cinematography and Fall-ish vibes across the board.
