Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth Spinoff Has A Release Date, Leaving One Final Question

Back at this year’s Super Bowl, no one could have predicted the joy that was David Fincher and Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth spinoff teaser. Seeing as this project thrives in secrecy, any news we’ve gotten has been pretty shocking – and without advance notice.

Today is no different, as the Netflix follow-up to Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, colloquially known as The Adventures of Cliff Booth, finally has a release date. However, as I’ve just alluded to in that last piece of information, a pretty huge query still stands on the board.

Cliff Booth Will Return To Netflix (And IMAX) This Thanksgiving

You can thank Greta Gerwig’s Narnia delay for this Netflix game changer. Announced earlier this month, moving The Magician’s Nephew adaptation to February 2027 left a huge opening on the studio’s 2026 schedule. That vacancy will now be the home for Cliff Booth’s adventures, as per the studio’s official press apparatus.

What’s more, this romp through ’70s Los Angeles will take advantage of the new relationship the big red streamer has forged with IMAX. Per today’s press blast, here’s the current plan for Cliffy’s next chapter:

Mark your calendars, because director David Fincher’s latest film will be coming to IMAX theaters globally for an exclusive two-week run starting Nov. 25, before debuting on Netflix on Dec. 23.

So the good news is that we are getting The Adventures of Cliff Booth – both in IMAX and on streaming – before the year is out. That feels like an announcement that’s worth cutting a cake – while popping champagne – over.

Now if only we knew what name to put on the damned pastry. That particular concern leads us to the multi-million question surrounding this Quentin Tarantino authored script. (Besides whether or not David Fincher is including gratuitous foot shots, so as to establish this world’s continuity.)

What Is The Cliff Booth Spinoff’s Final Title?

While the press has gotten comfortable with calling this picture The Adventures of Cliff Booth, that moniker still seems to evade official press materials. Even reading the announcement excerpt shown above, there’s a clear avoidance of committing to a name. For now, the official line is that we should be anticipating “David Fincher’s latest film.”

Now I’m no stranger to rooting for a movie that drops its name at the last second. As a three-time veteran of the Cloverfield marketing machine, this is an anomaly all too familiar. Even in that context, the random reveal of this theatrical/streaming hybrid release for Brad Pitt’s groovy looking comedy noir hints that plans surrounding this project are rapidly evolving. So maybe there’s a chance that Cliff Booth will distract people from that Cloverfield/The End of Oak Street theory that’s been burning up the web.

Fortunately, the Cliff Booth teaser trailer’s claim that this thrill ride is “coming soon” are a little less vague now. Brad Pitt reprises his Academy Award winning character in IMAX on November 25th, and streams on Netflix starting December 23rd.
