It’s only natural that since the release of The Odyssey’s most recent trailer speculation has focused on what our first Christopher Nolan adjacent concession collectible would look like. At this current moment in the theatrical exhibition game, having your own popcorn bucket is a sign of a massive blockbuster worth queuing up for.
I wasn’t sure what to expect when it came to the final form of this previously hypothetical marketing gimmick. Now that I know what this partnership with the folks at IMAX looks like, this new take on a tentpole tradition is something I cannot wait to get my hands on.

The Odyssey’ Collectable Bucket Is All About Lights…Camera…And Popcorn!
Let’s get something out of the way: the words “popcorn bucket” and “Christopher Nolan” don’t exactly encourage an easy pairing. That didn’t stop IMAX from cooking up something that’s ready to go on the market, in honor of tickets now being on sale for The Odyssey’s opening weekend.
With the July 17th debut set for some time now, it won’t be long before we get to see Matt Damon’s Odysseus embark on his epic journey home. And now, you can fight with fellow premium format devotees for the $50 IMAX Film Camera Popcorn Bucket – a conversation piece, if there ever was one.
The good news is that this soon-to-be coveted item is now on sale through the company’s official store. However, you can bet that this is going to fly off of the shelves faster than you can say “tickets.” Especially when the Odyssey cast looks to be having a lot of fun with the goods themselves, as you’ll see below:
Just when you thought this piece couldn’t be any more special, there’s another very special angle to this popcorn bucket for The Odyssey that just may bring a tear to your eye.

IMAX Fans Are Going To Love The Deeper Tribute Behind The Popcorn Bucket
The camera that serves as the model for The Odyssey’s popcorn bucket isn’t just the one that Christopher Nolan used to film “every frame” in format. It actually doubles as a tribute to IMAX’s late quality chief officer David Keighley, after recently being dubbed as “The Keighley Film Camera. So buying this collector’s piece doesn’t just show your support for this new film, it also shows your fandom for the premium movie format that’s helped change cinema.
A legend in his own right, David’s legacy as one of the crucial parties to review the premium format’s offerings actually extends to the new Nolan picture as well. Shortly before his passing, Mr. Keighley was able to review the dailies for The Odyssey, as shared by CEO Richard Gelfond in a statement made in September 2025. Keep that in mind as you take in the heroic looking poster for this project, which proudly boasts a result that wouldn’t have happened without David Keighley:

2026’s movie market has already seen this Canadian large format legend landing decisive victories through films such as Project Hail Mary. There are still quite a few titles that will be debuting in the auditoriums lucky enough to have this brand emblazoned upon the doors and walls of its auditorium. However, even with an R-rating attached to this Christopher Nolan tale of antiquity, there’s great potential for this literal epic to become a record-setting success.
Tickets for The Odyssey are currently on sale, in preparation for its opening night on July 17th. And just as I predicted when discussing Supergirl’s ticketing app woes, some people are already reporting site crashes and sell outs. To those still hunting for tickets, keep refreshing, keep the faith, and keep an eye on THS’ Movie News archive for all of the latest and greatest in pop culture!
