Blade Runner is one of the most iconic of classic sci-fi movies. When it released in U.S. theaters all the way back in June 25, 1982; this cyberpunk film from director Ridley Scott and based off of the 1968 sci-fi novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by American writer Philip K. Dick became a veritable hit with both critics and audiences alike.
Alas, it would take 35 years before a sequel would emerge in the form of Blade Runner 2049 in October 6, 2017; this time with Denis Villeneuve of Dune fame directing. This sequel also did very well with critics and audiences, but alas, it fared poorly at the box office. Even worldwide, it failed to even make back its break-even point, resulting in it becoming a financial flop, and endangering the franchise as a whole. Fortunately, it looks like it’s not stopping a new Blade Runner movie from being made. This time, with Amazon providing the funding. In fact, they’ve just released some new news about it in the form of a new trailer.
Amazon Prime Video is proud to unveil a brand new trailer for their upcoming Blade Runner 2099 TV series at New York Comic-Con 2026 (NYCC 2026). Not only that, but at the end of said trailer, it reveals that this upcoming 8-episode limited series will make its debut on November 25, 2026. In fact, all 8 episodes will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on that date, so you don’t have to wait weekly for the series to come out.
Now as for that new trailer for Blade Runner 2099? Well, you can watch it for yourself either on YouTube, or just look below for that and the official synopsis from Amazon Prime Video:

Blade Runner 2099 Hopefully Revitalizing Franchise Under Amazon?
From the looks of that trailer, it does look like Blade Runner 2099 will be a good series. It’s already going philosophical with the science fiction in regards to the replicants and how they see themselves, specifically with the conflicts in how they see themselves: whether as humans plus or as something else altogether.
All with that taking place as a new hunter targets them, with this particular “blade runner” being played by Michelle Yeoh. It’s very rare for a female Asian actor to get a starring role in an action-packed series like this, so good on Amazon for making this limited series pretty diverse, I guess? Now the only question will be if Blade Runner 2099 will live up to that trailer. Fortunately, it’s not a long wait until November 25 comes around. Unfortunately, you will need a paid Amazon Prime Video subscription to be able to watch it.
