The Tenth Doctor and Rose Return to Cinemas for Doctor Who Day with The Satan Pit

Doctor Who: The Satan Pit Extended Cut will be available in over 1,000 Cinemas

Revisit the ‘The Satan Pit’ once more as BBC, CinemaLive and Fathom Entertainment invite Doctor Who fans to watch the iconic double episode on the big screen on November 23rd, 2026.

The one-night-only event to celebrate Doctor Who Day will see ‘The Impossible Planet’ and ‘The Satan Pit’ newly edited for the big screen. The new cut will also feature deleted scenes and never-before-seen footage. These deleted scenes were previously only available on DVD.

The screening will also include an exclusive interview with International Emmy and BAFTA award-winning director and producer James Strong, reflecting on making the episode and its long-lasting legacy.

The two-part story is renowned as one of that era of Doctor Who’s best

The season 2 episodes star David Tennant as the Doctor and Billie Piper as Rose Tyler, and sees the TARDIS land on Sanctuary Base 6, a remote outpost on a planet orbiting a black hole.

As the human expedition group drill into the planet they are terrorized by a creature calling itself the Beast, the Doctor and Rose are take on one of their darkest adventures, facing the Ood and an evil older than time itself.

Fans remember the two-part adventure as one of the standout episodes of the modern Doctor Who era. IGN called the episdode, “a bit like watching a moderately entertaining B-movie like Event Horizon.”

Doctor Who Day takes place annually on November 23. It marks the anniversary of the first ever episode of Doctor Who, which aired on the BBC in 1963. Every year, fans globally come together to celebrate the sci-fi show and its characters.
