Marvel’s Wolverine and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls both had action-packed panels in Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Starting off the day, Wolverine featured a brand-new look at the game with a trailer and then details about what fans can expect from the game coming out later in the year.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls was directly after and featured plenty of reveals and details about the fighting game that mixes manga, Marvel, and fighting. A new playable DLC character dropped alongside the animated intro to the game. Let’s dive into the details of both panels!
Marvel’s Wolverine Starts Off With A Bang And Then Some
The trailer shown for Wolverine was action-packed and electric to kick off the panel. It had some looks at the different costumes that Wolverine wears throughout the game and some of the biggest set pieces. There were also some great looks at the villains of the game and some of the adversaries that Logan goes up against. The panel included Mike Daly, Liam McIntyre, Krizia Bajos, Jess Reiner-Reed, and Marcus Smith. Right off the bat they talked about what they wanted from the get-go with Wolverine, the combat.
From there, they gave some details about the world of the game, which is the same universe as the Spider-Man games from Insomniac. There are no X-Men in this universe, but the team that Logan is part of is known as Team X. That team includes Sabertooth, Logan, and Mystique. That’s not all though, the team was put together by Nathaniel Essex, who has gone missing, which kicks the game’s story off.
Logan is also joined by Jean Grey in the game and they got to talking about their relationship plenty.
Jean Grey is voiced by Krizi Bajos and she had plenty to talk about with the performance.
Finally for the details about Wolverine, they talked about a different adversary in the game from Trask, The Hand. Led by Deathstrike, they bring Logan to Japan in his quest.
The panel closed out with details about a collab between Wolverine and Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls. Starting September 1st, the costume from Wolverine will be available as a skin in the game. Conversely, on day 1 of release for Wolverine, fans can unlock his costume from Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls in the game.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls Brings In A Flaming Guest
The panel kicked off with the anime intro to the game. They talked about how it was important to them to get an intro like this for the game. One of the panelists described the game as a love letter to manga, Marvel, and fighting games. The intro song is titled “Stronger As One”. The open beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls opens later today at midnight.
One of the biggest challenges for the game was localizing it in 10 different languages. Some of the quips between fighters don’t work as well in some languages as they do in others, so that was a difficulty for the team. The layers of drawing were also a big difficulty for artist Mike Deodato.
The story for the game unfolds in comic book like chapters, the first of which is included with the open beta. It follows “team captains” for each team building a team to fight The Champion, an ancient God and villain.
By far, the biggest reveal of the panel was the new DLC character in Phoenix Cyclops. Fans have been clamoring for his inclusion in the game and the first wave of DLC will have him. Cyclops voice actor Ray Chase had a message for the panel and fans in attendance.
Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls releases for PC and PS5 on August 6th, 2026. The open beta goes live this weekend starting Midnight tonight. Marvel’s Wolverine releases on PS5 on September 15th, 2026.
Overall, both of these panels were great looks at two new Marvel games hitting consoles later this year.
