Interview With Then End of Oak Street Breakout Star Jordan Alexa Davis

Big Breakout Role For Newcomer Jordan Alexa Davis

With The End of Oak Street stomping its way into theaters, we got a chance to chat with newcomer Jordan Alexa Davis. Part of the supporting cast, Jordan plays Jeannette, a young neighbor who connects with the Platt family as they all try to survive the dinosaurs roaming the street. She’s an important inclusion to the cast and plays an important character in Oak Street. It’s also her very first feature film role, bursting onto the silver screen with all of the talent of a savvy veteran. We talked about what it was like to have her first step into feature films being one as big as The End of Oak Street.

It definitely felt like I was just jumping in, like just thrown into the deep end but in the best way because I feel like I’m now just more equipped for anything that comes after this. Starting with something so big and scary for me really helped me be more prepared. And I learned so much from everyone, everyone was just so talented and amazing.

Jordan clearly dove in head first and embraced the challenge. We talked about what it was like to work with big Hollywood stars like Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, “It was really surreal being able to learn from people that I grew up watching, so that was crazy….they always say don’t meet your heroes but with this I was so fortunate that they’re just such lovely people, so it was just everything I could’ve asked for and more.”

A Demanding Film For The Cast

The film demands a lot of its cast, requiring them to run and jump and get beat up and be in danger for long stretches. We talked about some of the challenges Jordan had with bringing the character to life and what it was like to take on a role this big and at times, difficult:

I think it was physically, emotionally, and mentally challenging and draining, so that was difficult for me to navigate at first. Just when you’re dealing with such heavy subject matter, kind of learning how to remove yourself from it at the end of the day, even when you care so much about the story and the world that you’re playing pretend so it can be easy to just kind of get wrapped in that. I feel like our bodies sometimes don’t know that we’re just acting or playing pretend when you’re working yourself up. But with time I learned how to separate myself from it.

We talked more about being on set, learning from the greats and what really drew her to the role. You can feel the passion for performance form Jordan and the genuine excitement she had for working on The End of Oak Street. There’s a bright onscreen future for Jordan Alexa Davis, and starting with something this big means there’s plenty more on the horizon for the young breakout star!
