‘The Batman Part II’ Pauses Production As Matt Reeves Takes Leave

Production on The Batman Part II has been paused due to Matt Reeves stepping away for personal reasons. Warner Bros. and DC Studios released a statement on Monday on the matter.

“Production on The Batman Part II has been temporarily paused while Matt Reeves focuses on a family matter. Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon.”

Filming had been underway in London prior to the pause. It has a current release date of February 18th, 2028, but it’s unknown if that date will hold with this pause in production. As for the reasons, they’re listed as personal reasons, so there’s no point in speculating on it. They Reeves’ reasons and not ours.

The cast includes Robert Pattinson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell, with new additions of Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jayme Lawson, Charles Dance, Gil Perez-Abraham, and Sebastian Koch.

The THS Take On This News

Our take is that if Matt Reeves needs some time away to deal with a personal matter, he should get it. That should be the only take out there and anyone else trying to spin this, use this for a narrative, or anything else is wrong. Has it been a long time since The Batman released in theaters? Yes. But at the end of the day, we want the best film possible, and if that takes time, that’s fine.

We’ll keep you updated on all things The Batman Part II as we get more news.
