Adventure Time, Come On Grab Your Friends
HBO Max is bringing back a fan favorite. Ten episodes of Adventure Time: Bubblegum & Marceline is headed to the streamer. Executive Producer Adam Muto is back in the fold after the success of Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake. This move comes as the larger Adventure Time brand resurgence in a huge way with multiple new shows.
The animated series has been drawing a lot of interest on HBO Max. An Emmy Wins for Adventure Time: distant lands. It just makes sense to bring back popular characters to explore them in this more in-depth manner.
Bubblegum & Marceline Go Beyond Distant Lands
Adventure Time: Bubblegum & Marceline is headed to HBO Max. The streamer announced the news today. Showrunner Adam Muto is back after all the delightful work with Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake. After all these years, The Land of Ooo is still full of a lot of mysteries.
There will be ten-episodes from the new adventures of Bonnie & Marcie. Expect some classic characters to show-up. But, also some new dangers. If anything is for sure in this world, it’s that we’ve only scratched the surface. Muto offered a statement about getting to revisit these fan-favorite characters.
“Continuing in the spirit of ‘Fionna & Cake,’ I’m excited that the next ‘Adventure Time’ series will feature two more of my favorite characters: Bubblegum & Marceline,” he said. “It’s been a fantastic opportunity to revisit old friends and build onto the world of ‘Adventure Time.’”
HBO Max Glad To Have These Girls Back
Over at HBO Max Comedy, VP Amy Gravitt had this to say. “We can’t wait to see where Adam’s boundless imagination takes us in this new series,” she explained. “It’s such a joy to go on another ‘Adventure Time’ journey with our friends and partners at Cartoon Network Studios.”

THS’s Take on New Adventure Time
This may not be the most surprising announcement, but it makes a lot of sense. Both Adventure Time: Distant Lands, and Adventure Time: Fiona and Cake did great work in expanding the Land of Ooo. It only makes sense to have each of these fan favorite characters get their own adventures further in the timeline.
One of the biggest things about this new Marceline and Bubble Gum spinoff is where it occurs in the larger Adventure Time story. Are we knocking around the same time as Fiona & Cake? Or is this set after the events of the main series? These are the questions you look forward to in the advanced story telling stage for Finn and his friends.
At any rate, it’s clear that Adventure Time is one of the most durable brands of the late 2000s and it dominated the 2010s. While mainstream audiences on social media to cry the idea of sequels and follow ups to their favorite franchises, here are the Adventure Time fans who bring up any new developments they can get their hands on. It also helps when those new entries are as good a quality as most of the HBO Max specials have been.
