‘Batman: Knightfall’ Animated Feature Film Unveils Official Trailer

batman

Batman: Knightfall is all set to be one of the most widely anticipated animated movies in DC history. Mostly because people hope that this upcoming animated trilogy from director Jeff Wamester and writer Jeremy Adams will be as dark, horrific, and honestly kinda terrifying as the comic book arc of the same name by by Doug Moench, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Dennis O’Neil, Peter David, Jo Duffy, Jim Aparo, Graham Nolan, Norm Breyfogle, and Jim Balent that ran from 1993 to 1994. You know, the one in which Bane graphically snaps Batman’s spine? Yeah, good times there. Fortunately, it does look as though this animated trilogy will get into some very dark times for our dark knight indeed. How do I know this? Well, just look below:

DC, Warner Bros. Animation, and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment are proud to unveil the first official trailer for Batman: Knightfall. All to celebrate the screening of the first part of this planned trilogy at this year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival. All starring Anson Mount as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Michael Mando as Bane, and Pablo Schreiber as Jean-Paul Valley/Azrael. Alas, the trailer itself still doesn’t give a release window, but DC themselves reveal that this movie will have an official release “planned for later this year” in 2026.

However, that trailer does give us some choice clips from that upcoming first part of Batman: Knightfall. You can watch it for yourself either on YouTube, or just look below for it and the official synopsis:

Official Trailer and Synopsis

When the mysterious behemoth known only as Bane frees Batman’s entire Rogue’s Gallery from Arkham Asylum, the Caped Crusader is pushed to his mental and physical breaking point.

Batman: Knightfall Might Make Knightfall Sometime Later in 2026

Alas, this is all we have for now. Officially speaking, that is.

Honestly, there’s surprisingly little concrete information about anything remotely resembling an official release window for Batman: Knightfall. A release window of sometime later in 2026 is not exactly an exact release date, after all. It could encompass any date in the next several months, and we don’t even know if it will be a theatrical release or if it will release direct to streaming. In any case, we’ll just have to wait for official word from DC and Warner Bros. to find that out.

However, we do have what is essentially a series of clips taken straight from the first part of Batman: Knightfall in that official trailer. It shows off a very dark and gritty version of the Dark Knight’s Gotham City adventures, just as it was in the comic books. We see an older and more tired Batman alongside an increasingly extremist Azrael after a drug-fueled Bane prepared to carry out his infamous breaking of Batman’s spine. All done in a style that feels semi-realistic and heavily inspired by noir movies. Oh, and featuring a shocking amount of blood and brutal violence that looks more like it belongs in a Punisher story rather than a Batman story. All in all, this looks like it will be a very faithful adaptation of the Knightfall comics. One that will do its many writers and artists proud, especially when we finally get to see it.

What do you all think? Are you feeling your Batman hype build up after seeing that trailer? Are you eagerly awaiting any official word as to when you can finally see Batman: Knightfall? Whether it’s tickets from Fandango or whichever streaming service will eventually stream the trilogy? Tell us your dark knight thoughts in the comments section below.
