Coven Academy Debuts New Look
Freeform welcomes viewers into Coven Academy. The new series It’s the cable network on October first period but, Hulu and Disney plus get in on the fun the next day. For everyone that loves a touch of dark academia with their teen dramas, you’re going to enjoy what you see from this new series. The Big Trailer Is Finally Here
Coven Academy just got its official trailer and magic fans are going to have a great time. Tim Federle is at the controls for Coven Academy. And, we’ve got a fun drama on our hands. Malina Pauli Weissman and Malachi Barton are at the center of a bunch of swirling mysteries. And, the magic might be the key to solving it.
Fans can get the first episode on Freeform on October 1 at 8pm. Then, the full season becomes available on Disney+, Hulu and Freeform On Demande. There’s a bingeable element to this season of Coven Academy. You’re going to want to race through the individual chapters to uncover what’s really going on. Check out the trailer for yourself up top.
Who’s In The Coven?
Malina Pauli Weissman (“A Series of Unfortunate Events”) stars in Coven Academy as Briar. She’s a fiercly independent New Yorker who finds out she’s a witch. Malachi Barton is here as Jake. He’s a warlock with a magnetic personality that matches his dangerous edge.
Jordan Leftwitch plays Sasha. This deeply empathetic student can read minds. Tegan is brought to life by Ora Duplass. Duplass plays a time-bending witch. Louise Thresher brings some vampire flavor to the festivities as Ollie. Shepharding the student through the semester is Tiffani Thiessen as Miss Graves. She’s the headmistress and she does it with style. On the Warlock side, the delightful Devon Sawa serves as their professor.
What’s The Series About?
In the haunted heart of New Orleans, “Coven Academy” follows three teenage witches and their dangerously charming warlock peers at an elite magic boarding school where power is currency, secrets are lethal and attraction is a liability.
between ancient supernatural wars and forbidden love interests, the coven must decide how far they’re willing to go to protect their city—and themselves.
Crafting A Spell With This Series
Federle knows this corner of entertainment like the back of his hand. So, when he spoke to Teen Vogue, he knew they would ask about influences. Coven Academy pulls from a bunch of different sources. The resulting brew should delight fans during spooky season.
“[The pilot] was the easiest thing I’ve ever written since I started writing novels, maybe because there wasn’t [an existing] IP, so there wasn’t that expectation,” Federle told Teen Vogue. “I felt steeped in the stories that moved me as a kid that have love triangles and family pressure but also boarding schools: Toy Soldiers, Dead Poets Society, there’s a little Harry Potter in there. I wanted to do something with magic that didn’t feel too young.”
