Catching up with game show host Michael Yo

As Scrambled Up Season 2 gets underway on Samsung TV Plus and YouTube, I spoke with Michael Yo. He is our quizmaster as people try for that grand prize money. During our conversation we talked about the lasting legacy of game shows. Along with how his journey paved the way for Scrambed Up’s success on streaming platforms. He also teased how the production team is upping the ante for Season 2. It was a fun conversation with a guy who knows how to adapt as the entertainment landscape gets larger and larger!

Yo told me, “We just started Season Two. We shot 160 episodes. So, it’s like it’s an amazing thing that people love Season One. And, Season Two kicked off on September 14th. That’s what’s amazing to me, is in two years we’ve made 320 episodes of this show! And, without everybody watching this podcast, watching this stream, it would not be able to happen. So, thank you.”

“I’m very blessed. I tell you, man, I used to be the guy in Hollywood that got all the no’s. You know what I mean? Like I would shoot the pilots of the game shows and be like, ‘we’re gonna go with a bigger name. ‘ Finally I got my shot,” Yo recalled. “And, those shows I missed out on? One of them aired and only made it six episodes. Now I’m sitting here with 320 episodes. And, I tell everybody, man, it’s not on your time, it’s on God’s time. Because God was like, ‘You don’t need six episodes, you need 320.'”

About Scrambled Up

Yo explains the name of the game for us. “What I love about the show is that, everybody loves word scrambles. You know? They’re fascinating to watch, because I get pictures all the time on Instagram DMs,” Yo shared. “It’s families watching, kids watching with their parents. So, everybody can partake in it. It’s exciting.”

“You got three rounds of scrambles, and then the winner of those rounds goes to the ultimate scramble for a chance to win ten thousand dollars. And, it’s just fun to watch,” he adds. “The thing I hope that comes across when I host the show, I really want these people to win. Because it’s not my money. I want them to take home this ten thousand dollars. I want them to take it home!”

“I really care about the people that play, because it’s so exciting for me to see people get excited about a game,” the host admitted. “And, that’s what I’ve always dreamed about, is hosting a game show. I’m living out my dream right now.”

The show describes itself. “Scrambled Up! is a new syndication game show where four contestants compete to unscramble jumbled words and phrases by solving puzzles with progressively easier clues.”
