Tennant Doctor fans have something extra to be thankful for this November. Doctor Who just extended its upcoming theatrical run of “The Satan Pit.”
BBC Studios, CinemaLive, and Fathom Entertainment previously announced plans to bring two episodes of the sci-fi series to the big screen in honor of the show’s upcoming anniversary. The Satan Pit Extended Cut features the two-part stories “The Impossible Planet” and “The Satan Pit”. It also includes restored deleted scenes, extended footage, and an exclusive interview with director James Strong.
“The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit” originally aired in 2006, in the second season of the modern Doctor Who revival. The episodes star David Tennant as the Time Lord and Billie Piper as companion Rose Tyler. The story sees the pair land on Sanctuary Base 6, a remote outpost on a planet orbiting a black hole. Soon they uncover something ancient beneath the surface, pulling the Doctor and Rose into one of their darkest and most unforgettable adventures, facing the terrifying Ood and an evil older than time itself: the Beast.
Screenings begin in over 1,000 theaters across the US, UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand on Doctor Who Day (November 23). Originally, this was a one-night only event. But thanks to popular fan demand, you can now grab tickets for The Satan Pit Extended Cut for November 28 as well.
For UK Whovians, Cineworld will host 4DX screenings on both dates at all of its UK theaters.
