Disney+ adds a Pixar favorite
Hoppers is finally coming to Disney+ and we have a release date. Disney revealed when the hit Pixar film begins streaming. Hoppers burrows into the platform on June 3. Piper Curda’s Mabel is a fan-favorite along with the movie’s MVP Tom Lizard. But, there are a host of other lovable woodland friends for you to meet at home on Disney+.
SNL alum Melissa Villaseñor voices our gruff, but lovable bear friend Ellen. Also, Eduardo Franco is an iconic beaver who might move slow. However, Loaf always has his heart in the right place. Pixar’s strength really came to bear in this new movie. The characters feel very emotive and informed by their real life animal counterparts. It really is something to behold.
Over on Rotten Tomatoes, Hoppers was a big hit with audience and critics alike. It was Certified Fresh on the platform and Verified Hot when it came to the audience score.

People Really Loved Hoppers
Internal sentiment around Pixar and Disney was very high on hoppers. And, that faith was rewarded with a sterling box office run in theaters. Audiences all over came to enjoy more than just Tom Lizard. Director Daniel Chong has a lot to be happy about with the movies performance.
For that Hollywood Show, our critic Hunter Bolding reviewed Hoppers and gave the movie credit for being truly funny. Yes, pixar is known for their sentiment. But, Hoppers really managed to tickle the audience’s funny bone too. That’s something that should not go under the radar.
“The look of Hoppers is among the best parts of the film. All the different animals are adorable and funny in the right ways,” Bolding noted. “There are even some more fearsome looking animals, including the aforementioned Great White Shark. Everything is in the name of the themes of the film though. Through the whole thing, it knows exactly what it wants to do and say and that’s best for the audience.”
“The only thing I can really complain about is that it definitely feels like there’s two ‘moments of no return’ in the film, where the third act would normally begin after all is lost for the protagonist,” he added. “So that’s a bit jarring, but other than that, this is easily one of Pixar’s best movies they’ve made in recent memory.”

What is the movie about?
Here’s Pixar’s description of the film. “In this animated comedy adventure, animal lover Mabel seizes an opportunity to use a new technology to “hop” her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver and communicate directly with animals. As she makes amazing discoveries, Mabel befriends a charismatic beaver and must rally the entire animal kingdom to face a major, imminent, human threat.”
Hoppers features the voice of Bobby Moynihan as King George, an undeniably optimistic, kind and larger-than-life beaver who is the leader of the pond and king of the mammals. Jon Hamm voices Mayor Jerry, a politician running for reelection in Beaverton. Hoppers is directed by Daniel Chong (“We Bare Bears”), produced by Nicole Paradis Grindle (“Incredibles 2”) and features an original score by composer Mark Mothersbaugh (“Thor: Ragnarok”).
Hoppers streams on Disney+ June 3.
