The Angry Birds Movie and its 2019 sequel are a bit of a mixed bag. As you can tell by the titles, they were an attempt to turn the popular Angry Birds video game franchise by creator Jaakko Iisalo and Rovio Entertainment (now a subsidary of SEGA) into an equally as succesful animated film franchise. And despite the decidedly mixed reviews from critics, the movies did in fact end up becoming fairly popular as a family comedy movie franchise. Successful too, considering that they made back many times their budgets. All in all, a trequel was quite inevitable, and the star of today’s story.
Paramount Pictures is proud to announce The Angry Birds Movie 3 with a brand new official trailer, poster, and first images. Said trailer on YouTube reveals that we’re going to get to see this animated trequel in NA theaters in December 23, 2026; and thus, finally getting to see the work of director John Rice and writer Thurop Van Orman (The Angry Birds Movie 2).

The Angry Birds Movie 3 Looks Very Focused on Family Comedy
As you might be able to tell from that official trailer, this particular animated family comedy movie is not particularly focused on depicting accurate bird biology. After all, real life birds don’t pee. They produce uric acid along with the rest of their waste, which is the white part of the stuff birds leave behind. To be fair though, this is the same movie that depicts birds as having teeth, so accurate biology is probably not the focus of the movie. It’s just a mild annoyance to us biology nerds, is all.
As a family movie though, it’s rather crude in its humor. It’s somehow the kind of humor that appeals to both kids and parents. We have gross-out humor for the kids, while parents can chuckle at the agonies of parenthood exaggerated for comedic effect. Honestly, this seems like the perfect family comedy movie for everyone in the family to enjoy. We just have to wait for December 23 to see if this movie is as good as the trailer makes it out to be.
What do you all think? Are you excited to take your kids to see The Angry Birds Movie 3 this holiday season? Maybe even have a bit of self-referential chuckle yourself, especially at how Ryan Gosling’s name is the perfect bird pun without any changes whatsoever?
