Tom Kane, a prolific voice actor for both film and TV has passed away at the age of 64. His death came from complications from a stroke and was announced by his talent agency, Galactic Productions.
Tom Kane was known for a wide variety of characters over the course of his career, including Yoda on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Professor Utonium on Powerpuff Girls, and plenty of others throughout a long career.
Here’s what the statement to his fans said.
“From his unforgettable performances in Star Wars to countless animated series, documentaries and games, Tom brought wisdom, strength, humor and heart to every role he touched,” it said in a statement. “His voice became part of our lives, our memories and the stories we carry with us.”
Kane suffered a stroke in 2020 that left him unable to speak or write, but could still move around. He did manage to attend the Lexington Comic and Toy Convention in March for a reunion of the Powerpuff Girls cast.
He’s given us plenty of performances in shows like Archer, Foster’s Home For Imaginary Friends, Kim Possible, The Wild Thornberrys, and has voiced Magneto and Ultron in several Marvel properties.
He was born on April 15th, 1962 in Overland Park, Kansas. His first big break in his career was working at Lucasfilm doing voice parts for their video games starting in 1996. He voiced Yoda for the first time in 1999. That work continued through to the 2003 Clone Wars animated series and then the 2008 Clone Wars film and finishing up on the animated series that came out of that movie.
He’s survived by his wife Cindy, and his nine children. Our good thoughts go out to his friends, family, and fans.
Join us in celebrating his work across all the projects he was involved with.
RIP.
