What would you do if you were stuck in your house with no way out? Some of us might think that’s a pretty sick way to avoid seeing the outside public, but in the case of the new Netflix movie The Last House, its a nightmare. The film stars Greta Lee, Wagner Moura, Gabriel Barbosa, Emma Ho, Noah Alexander Sosnowski, and Riley Chung. They might look like a normal family, but there’s a mysterious looming threat that has kept them inside their home.
Check out the official trailer below.
The Last House was directed by Louis Leterrier and written by Matthew Robinson. It was produced by Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Kori Adelson, Louis Leterrier, and Oly Obst. The premise for the movie goes like this:
Jason and Ann, played by Greta Lee and Wagner Moura, have no explanation to their family why their house is suddenly sealed shut. They can’t open windows or doors to get out. They’re locked in their house while food and other essentials dwindle down. The monster in this film might not be whatever apocalyptic threat they’re hiding from, but themselves.
A day becomes a week, a week becomes a month, a month becomes a year, and so on for the family. It sure sounds like a nightmare to me and the combination of both factors is sure to thrill and terrify.
The Last House releases on Netflix on August 7th, 2025.
The THS Take – An Interesting Concept With Two Standout Performers

I’m not normally a huge fan of disaster movies like this but with Greta Lee and Wagner Moura involved, I’m intrigued. The trailer looks like a tense bit of filmmaking from Leterrier. This type of movie is a bit of a throwback to an older style of filmmaking. I’m all for that because too many movies these days look and feel exactly the same. We’ll have to see just how thrilling the film can get when it releases on Netflix.
Wagner Moura is coming off the star-making performance in The Secret Agent. Greta Lee should be known to audiences around the world for her turns in Tron: Ares, Toy Story 5, and Past Lives.
We’ll keep you updated as we get more news about The Last House.
