‘Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi’ Soon Premiering On Disney+ And Hulu

Star Wars: Visions raised quite the ruckus when it first made its debut on September 22, 2021. After all, it was basically an anthology of various stories taking place in various times and places in the Star Wars universe in anime form, allowing us to get a taste of what a Star Wars anime would be like. Since that initial debut on Disney+, there has been three seasons of that Star Wars anime, comprised of 27 episodes at 9 episodes per season. A few episodes are even direct sequels of previous episodes, raising our hopes that we might get a full Star Wars anime series for the first time. And now, it looks like Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Psycho-Pass, Kaiju No. 8) will fulfill our hopes and dreams, and very soon at that.

Lucasfilm and Production I.G are proud to announce that Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi will soon be making its streaming debut. This will be the first full-length Star Wars anime in history, comprising an 8-episode limited series that will continue and hopefully conclude the The Ninth Jedi storyline from Star Wars: Visions Seasons 1 and 3. This anime series will be available in both the original Japanese audio and an English dub that will both premiere on August 5, 2026 exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu.

To celebrate this, they also have an official trailer for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi for us today. Well, to be precise, it’s two trailers: one for the original Japanese audio and one for the English dub. They also have a brand new key visual for us to check out as well. You can check out both trailers on YouTube, or just look below for them and additional details:

Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi All Set to Be Dramatic First Star Wars Anime in History

To be honest, we probably should’ve expected that the most popular of the Star Wars: Visions episodes would get turned into full anime series. Heck, they practically screamed it to the heavens when both The Duel and The Ninth Jedi got sequel episodes in the third season. It was just a toss-up between them as to which one would get the honor first. It seems that The Ninth Jedi won the toss, and now we’re going to see how Production I.G does making a full-length Star Wars anime.

Fortunately, it looks like Production I.G are looking to do the Star Wars universe quite right. Judging by the official trailers, it looks like we’re going to get a very dramatic Star Wars story in Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi that’s steeped in symbolism, clashs of ideals, and morally grey conflicts. Honestly, I don’t think I’m alone in eagerly awaiting what they do with this anime series. I’m only awaiting August 5 to actually get a month of Disney+ to be able to watch it. As well as catching up on the latest seasons of Star Wars: Visions, of course.

What do you all think? Are you all hyped up for the first Star Wars anime in history? Are you too eagerly awaiting the arrival of Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi? Tell us your Star Wars thoughts in the comments section below.
