“Daredevil: Born Again” and the series that came before it on Netflix, left audiences in awe with very grounded and tight action sequences. These didn’t just serve as gratuitous violence, but also as a way to compliment and and enhance the story they were telling. In many cases, it was through the action that we really got the message that although Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock was a superhero, he was human first. This helped audiences become more engaged with the series and find empathy with the character, at it showed just how much heart and willpower Daredevil had to face his enemies.
You can catch both seasons of “Daredevil: Born Again” on Disney+.

I had the opportunity to talk with Philip J. Silvera. He is the Emmy-nominated action director behind “Daredevil: Born Again”. For the series, Silvera oversaw second-unit direction, stunt coordination, and choreography. In our conversation we talked his approach to the action, in regards with keeping it grounded and how it served to continue to help define the characters as a hero or villain. It was a fantastic conversation that you can check out below!
