Werwulf’s Official Soundtrack sounds amazing
Robert Eggers approaches with a brand-new film. And, that means movie buffs are going to want this official Werwulf soundtrack to add to their collections. Ethel Cain plays a big role in the Werwulf soundtrack, so that’s just an added bonus!
Composer Robin Carolan worked closely with Eggers on crafting the vibes for Werwulf. The first original song from the film releases on November 13. Cain performs “Wynter Waxeth” on the forthcoming release. You can get your hands on the full album on December 18th.
Why Ethel Cain joined the project?
In modern music, there are some very singular voices. The new crop of artists counts Ethel Cain as a distinct performer in the current pop renaissance. Robin Carolan dropped some thoughts on incorporating Cain in the project.
“I’d send [Ethel Cain] medieval music, prayers, weird ambient stuff, and we’d talk through it all. It was one of those rare collaborations where we just seemed to be on the same page about everything,” Carolan notes. “Initially we’d talked about her contributing vocals to the score in a more textural way, but it wasn’t long until we started discussing a full blown song.” \
The composer continues, “Her talent and open mindedness to try different things is honestly incredible. She sang the song in Middle English, and with Rob’s help she mastered the pronunciation on the hop, practically in one session. She brought so much earthy, feral, haunted beauty to the score, and it’s hard to imagine it without her presence.”
