Pixar’s New Film Gets A Trailer
Gatto is coming early next year from Pixar. We Just got a brand new trailer for the feline Focus adventure. Who knew a black cat could get into so much trouble in Venice. But, that’s not all! Two surprising actors join the cast of this Pixar movie, and you’re going to be even more excited for what’s coming after learning who we’re talking about.
Gatto Looks Tremendous So Far
Disney and Pixar revealed the big trailer for Gatto. Mark Ruffalo gets top-billing as our protagonist Nero. And, Larence Fishburne plays the super serious Rocco in the new movie. This is cats getting into mischief with the backdrop of Venice, Italy providing some extra visual oomph.
When you check out that trailer up above, you’ll notice that we’re doing a little something different with Gatto. The kind of live-sketch style present in some of your current animation favorites is front and cente for the new Pixar film. Gatto won’t tiptoe into theaters until March 5, 2027. But, it’s nice to get a look at director Enrico Casarosa’s latest project.
Pixar Not Giving Up On Original Films
A lot has been made in recent months about Pixar’s original output. Hoppers helped quiet some of that chatter around the studio for sure. There will always be a home for original features up in Northern California. But, with Toy Story 5 on the near horizon, it it’s clear that the animation studio isn’t shying away from its most successful franchises either.
During last year’s Annecy Film Festival, the DisInsider asked Pixar chief Pete Doctor about the prospects for more original films from the studio. In his comments, he clarified that audiences have to show up to support those original movies if they’re going to keep requesting them. It’s all about a balance at the end of the day.
“I mean, really, I mean, it’s, it’s kind of like a, a, a dance between the audience,” Docter said of popular originals getting the franchise treatment. “If nobody cares about the movie, if it didn’t do well, we don’t really generally explore it. However, if it’s been really great and we can’t find an idea, we don’t really explore it.”
“So it really has to hit on two or three different places, we have to know that people love it and we have to feel like it really has something more to bring,” he admitted. “And sometimes we dig for a long time and don’t find anything. So yeah, it’s all these things are a little bit mysterious and you have to kind of allow for that mystery.”

What Is Gatto About?
Here’s how they describe the new movie. “In “Gatto,” after years of maneuvering the canal-ridden, superstitious city of Venice, Italy, Nero begins to question whether he’s lived the right lives. Indebted to Rocco, the local feline mob boss, Nero finds himself in a quandary and is forced to forge a truly unexpected friendship that may finally lead him to his purpose—unless Venice gets the better of him first.”
Gatto graces the big screen on March 5.
